About

I am Billal BEGUERADJ from Algeria. I’m into Software Development & Information Security.

I belong to the native people of North Africa. My native language is Tamazight and our alphabet is Tifinagh:

  • Algeria is the pronounciation of what we call locally Dzair which means “The Zirid lands”. Id est, Algeria is named after the Berber Zirid dynatsy
  • Tamazight is a name feminization of “Amazigh” which means the free man or the man who loves his freedom.
  • Tifinagh: When the Phoenicians settled on our lands (800 to 1100 BC) and brought their own alphabet from which emanates the Latin one, they accused my ancestors -who already had their own alphabet- of plagiarism. My ancestors insisted that our alphabet was invented by them way before the Phoenicians came. And that is what Tifinagh means: our invention or our idea.
  • BEGUERADJ means, in my native language, the man who owns gold.
  • Billal: although it is commonly used by Arabs as a name for men, it’s not an Arabic name and has no meaning in Arabic language. But it means water in Aramaic. In my native language: billa, bila and bile all mean without; whereas the last part il has 2 meanings: river 1 and God. I prefer the second interpretation of my name: Without God as it makes sense and I’m atheist. Billal/Bilal is also close both in meaning and pronunciation to what is known in Hebrew as Belial. In short, my full name means, in my native language: The atheist rich man.

  1. The Nile river (written Nil in French and pronounced as such throughout North Africa) is a two word Berber compound: N means The people of and il means river. Id est, the Nile means, in my native language, “The people of the river. Until today there is an indigenous Berber speaking population in Egypt. If you speak my language, you will have a totally different, more interesting and less puzzling version of the Pharaonic Egypt history. ↩︎
